North Vancouver Newborn Photographer

Baby yawning - North Vancouver newborn photographer

Hey, I’m Kelly! I’m a North Vancouver newborn photographer who helps your savour babe’s first days so they don’t get lost in a haze of dirty diapers and sleep deprivation. I’m a mom myself, and I so clearly remember the moment each of my sweet children were laid on my chest and I looked into their tiny face for the first time and thought I would explode with love, despite what they had just put me through. I also remember coming out of the haze a little bit once they had started sleeping a little better and wondering when my newborn has become this babbling, playful infant!

These days are so precious. The journey into parenthood is difficult at times, but amazing and beautiful and deserves to be captured, displayed and handed down to your children. As a North Vancouver newborn photographer and mom of three, I help new parents preserve these early memories because I know how quickly they pass. But newborn photography is quite intimate. You’re inviting someone into your home and trusting your sweet baby with them, so it’s always helpful to be confident you like this person and will enjoy your time with them!

So, who am I?

Well, you already know I’m a mom of three. But let’s get more real. Here’s some semi-interesting facts about me, and if you read them and think “hey, me too!” to any, then we just might have a life-long friendship in our future!

  1. I’m a coffee person. I’m also a tea person. Pretty much, if you offer me caffeine, I’ll take it.
  2. I’m an avid reader. Anything from the Classics to Science Fiction – I’ll eat it up. In fact, I’m a big fan of most things by Jane Austen, but my absolute favourite writer is a Welsh gentleman named Jasper Fforde. If you’re into books with unique plot lines and a witty sense of humour heavy on the wordplay, I recommend checking him out!
  3. I love to bake. Baking with my mom is a favourite childhood memory. Her chocolate chip cookie recipe is pretty much famous among those who know her, and I’ve spent most of my life trying to make mine as good. Except I developed a gluten allergy in my late teens and now everything I bake is gluten free.
  4. I love travelling and miss it pretty severely. It hasn’t been in the cards for us since we had our kids, but I have a list of places I’d love to go, including Croatia, Italy and the Galapagos, and a few I’d like to return to and show my kids one day, like New Zealand, Rwanda and Thailand!
  5. I’m a re-watcher. I love to re-watch movies and shows I know I love over and over again. Gilmore Girls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, the Office, Community, Downton Abbey. I’ve seen all of these series multiple times but just keep coming back!

Family session with Kindred Photography, North Vancouver newborn photographer

What makes me different from other North Vancouver newborn photographers?

My lifestyle approach to newborn photography means you get unposed, real images of your new family. I come to your home to do it, so you don’t have to rush to get everyone dressed up and out of the house while you’re one week post-partum only to arrive and find baby has pooped through the onesie you picked. I capture your new life as it is: unposed, in all the authentic and genuine emotion of becoming a parent.

I’m also not the type of photographer that you book, see at your session and then sends you a whole bunch of digital images. It’s my goal to guide and serve you along the whole process. I meet with each of my clients prior to our session to help with styling, as well as to let you choose a dress from my client closet. I’m there to help you decide on what colour frame looks best in your living room, or what style of album cover best suits your coffee table. I help prepare you in every way I can for your session!

Then, we spend time together capturing your memories. You cuddle your baby, take some time to just sit and relax while I gently guide you with prompts to elicit the emotions you’re already feeling. And then, once I’ve captured every tiny detail, the session is done.

But that’s not where it ends. After our session we get together for the reveal. I show you all the best images from your session and you get to experience it all over again. We go through and you pick your favourites you want in your package, any you’d like to hang around your home or put in an album, and then I deliver stunning, professionally finished art work, so you can get those tingles all over again, every time you see your images hung up in your home.

Really, that’s all there is to it. If I seem like someone you can trust with your fleeting memories of your little baby, I’d love to chat with you about becoming your North Vancouver newborn photographer!
