Every Fraser Valley Photographer knows that we have the best locations here for sessions. The mountain-scapes, lakes, rivers, ocean – we really have it all. I don’t spend much time in Chilliwack, as it’s an hour drive away, so I sought the advice of others when planning this family session. There were some amazing locations (and I’m totally game to try them out if you’re in the area!) but, last minute, Agatha and Herman found this gem of a location: a secluded little beach along a river. I honestly don’t even know which one.

As we drove the truck onto the beach, Herman told me that this area is actually usually covered by water, but with the river being so low, people often come camp on it. It was picture perfect for our rainy day session: The overcast skies against the river and mountains; the faint colour in the changing leaves on the other side of the river.

But, the story of this session is so much more than just the gorgeous location. Agatha is the owner a creative genius behind Ederra Design, and I first met her when I was looking for someone to give my brand the love it deserved. She made my vision and dreams for my brand come to life with a mood board, a new logo design, brand colours and fonts. I was over the moon with her work!

Then I had the privilege of meeting and capturing her sweet family. Her son greeted me immediately at my car when I arrived at their home. I knew immediately we were going to be buddies. He walked up to my car with a huge grin on his face and told me to come inside. His older sister was just as friendly, though little A was quite a bit more reserved.

We drove to the location and I worked hard to get little A comfortable with me, but she never quite opened up like her brother and sister did. We had so much fun during our session, though! Big sister M wanted to be my assistant and asked if she could take the photos for me. R was happy to smile to smile for the camera. All three were so much fun to capture. It was such a pleasure working with Agatha and being chosen as their Fraser Valley Photographer.
