Vancouver is such a great place to keep the whole family entertained. Not only is it a safe city with a very walkable downtown, it’s got something for everyone. From spectacular attractions to beautiful parks, stunning beaches and towering forests, it’s a fabulous place to take the kids. And don’t worry – if the weather turns bad there’s also plenty of indoor activities to keep the little ones happy. So without further ado, here are my top hand-picked recommendations for the best things to do in Vancouver with kids!

1. PNE and Playland

A wonderful place to visit with the family in the summer months, the Pacific National Exhibition has a super fun amusement park – Playland. There’s an enormous variety of rides for you and your kids, as well as all of the typical fair favourites such as face-painting and carnival games. 

If you’re lucky, you might also catch a concert or market too! Make sure to check the schedule to find out what’s on when you plan to visit – you’ll be pleased to know that the majority of events are included within your admission price.

2. Granville Island

Granville Island just has so much to offer: parents can enjoy the markets and mouthwatering locally made delicacies and the kids can enjoy a ride there on the Aquabus. They are also well equipped with a number of kid-friendly attractions. 

I’ll bet that the enormous indoor jungle gym: The Adventure Zone will be one of those that your kids will be begging to go back to again and again! They can also enjoy the Kids Market which offers a plethora of activities including an arcade, and it’s totally free.

3. Kitsilano Beach

When thinking of the best things to do in Vancouver with kids, it wasn’t easy for me to select just one beach, but Kits wins for pure family fun. Offering a vast sandy coastline, kids will love making sandcastles, paddling and visiting the playground whilst you can take a dip in the saltwater pool or, if you’re feeling active, try a sport like tennis or volleyball. 

4. Science World

You always need a backup when it comes to family days out where the weather isn’t great, and Science World is a perfect indoor option for things to do in Vancouver with kids. You’ll be amazed at how fast the time flies by enjoying all the exhibits and displays, and kids will love getting involved with all the interactive stuff. And bonus – it’s educational too! There’s also an Omnimax Theatre if you fancy catching a film. 

5. Vancouver Aquarium

Last but by no means least on my favourite ideas for things to do in Vancouver with kids is the awesome aquarium in Stanley Park. With indoor and outdoor areas, the whole family will love exploring the gloriously colourful fish and coastal creatures including turtles, frogs, penguins and sea lions. Make sure you get the kids to one of their special shows or story times to take in all the sights and sounds of the ocean.
