North Vancouver is an ideal location and perfect playground for the outdoor-minded, with a plethora of indoor and kid-friendly activities – there really are things to do in North Vancouver for everyone. One of the greenest cities in Canada, it also boasts a fantastic transportation system to get the family around safely and easily. If you’re looking for some tips on the best places to take your family for indoor and outdoor fun, as well as some recommendations on the top places to eat that everyone will enjoy, then stick around.
Outdoor Things to do in North Vancouver
There is a wealth of outdoor activities and things to do in North Vancouver; you will never be short of something to keep you and the kids occupied – which usually involves some seriously stellar views as a bonus. We recommend:
Grouse Mountain
Grouse Mountain is a super versatile location, boasting great summer and winter activities. You can take a gondola to the top to appreciate the spectacular views and nature and the kids can get involved in the variety of activities on offer from boarding, sliding and skating (or you can too if you’re that way inclined!) Oh, and make sure to check out the year-round Skyride while you’re at it. North America’s largest Ariel tramway system – again, for those views, but with a bit of fun splashed in to keep the kids on board.
Capilano Suspension Bridge
A hugely popular destination for those looking for things to do in North Vancouver, this site offers a whole lot more than just the bridge itself. Your family can really make a day of it, with the treetop adventure, living forest, the story centre and the incredible cliff walk. There’s also plenty of eating options and an on-site ice cream shop which kids will love (and maybe you will, too!)
Indoor Things to do in North Vancouver
If you fancy a little trip inside, you won’t be short of ideas and there is plenty of great places to keep the little ones occupied. How about:
Laserdome Plus
Everyone likes a bit of laser tag, right? If not, this place has V-Ball Velcro Ball (a less painful version of paintball), a Karaoke recording studio, a 3-wall climbing facility with 14 routes and a fantastic indoor play area for kids 10 and under.
North Vancouver Museum
A bit less action-packed, for those of you who like a slower pace. With something of interest for kids and adults alike, this is a go-to place to visit on a rainy day. With plenty of interactive and virtual exhibits to keep the kids entertained, you can also learn more about the history of the area.
Places to Eat
From Scratch kitchen is an 8-minute drive away from Deep Cove, and makes everything from scratch daily. Think pizza, burgers, and all that good stuff. If your family are a fan of Greek food, try Anatoli Souvlaki which offers a beautiful range of fresh dishes for all the family. And an honourable mention goes to Cheshire Cheese Restaurant, offering traditional cuisine with a twist, with a side of amazing views over Lonsdale Quay.
