The museum is family-friendly and offers you an excellent educational opportunity while exploring the area. We recommend spending the majority of your time in the First Nations and totem poles areas and put aside between two to three hours for your visit here.

Craigdarroch Castle

Kids love running around and exploring new places, and this castle will be no exception. Head back in time to the Victorian era to explore this castle, which is only a short walk away from downtown Victoria. There’s a guided tour that is well worth doing on your visit, and kids will enjoy looking out for ghosts during their time here. I recommend trying to visit here on a sunny day, as you’ll be able to explore the grounds as well.

Victoria Bug Zoo

While this might seem like an unexpected thing to do in Victoria with kids, the Victoria Bug Zoo is a must-visit on your next trip here. Young kids will love seeing their huge collection of insects, bugs and butterflies, and the day out will be both fun and educational for your children. There’s also the opportunity to hold some of the bugs on a tour, which will make this a day your family will remember forever.

Victoria Butterfly Gardens

If your kids are particularly keen on animals and bugs, head over to the Victoria Butterfly Gardens. The number of butterflies here is astounding, but there are also many other creatures on display. I loved seeing the flamingos and parrots, and there are staff everywhere who are willing to chat with you and answer your children’s questions. It’s one of the top things to do in Victoria with kids, and we encourage you to spend about two hours here in order to see everything that’s on display.

Victoria Harbour Ferry

The Victoria Harbour Ferry offers a family-friendly 45-minute tour of the Inner Harbour, which is well worth adding to your Victoria itinerary. While this tour doesn’t run in the winter months, if you are here in the spring or summer, it’s worth a visit. Kids will love seeing Victoria from a different perspective, and the tour offers parents a chance to sit down and relax after a busy day exploring the area.

As you can see, there are so many things to do in Victoria with kids, and you’ll never be bored during a visit to this area. Many of the attractions offer family tickets, making it very affordable to visit with your kids in tow.
