There’s no shortage of things to do on the Sunshine Coast, and if you are visiting this area with your family, you’ll find plenty of fun activities that everyone can enjoy. Today I’m going to share with you my list of the best things to do in the local area, which you’ll want to check out when you are next on the Sunshine Coast.

Visit Farm Ventures

Located in Roberts Creek, visiting Farm Ventures is one of the top things to do on the Sunshine Coast for families. You’ll find many different animals in this farm and petting zoo, and kids will love taking a trail ride through the forest. In the summer months, they also offer a kids’ pony camp which can be a fun experience for younger children who love animals and spending time in nature.

Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden

If you are keen to spend some time outdoors in the spring and summer, head to the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden. There are so many different plants to see here, and kids can learn more about growing vegetables in the demonstration garden. I particularly enjoyed the Rainforest viewing platform and the unique view it offered. It’s a great spot to take your kids when they are feeling a little restless, which is why it’s one of my favourite things to do on the Sunshine Coast.

Nicolas Sonntag Marine Education Centre

Another fun animal-related activity on the Sunshine Coast is the Nicolas Sonntag Marine Education Centre. It’s located within the Gibsons Public Market, which you’ll also want to explore following your visit. The museum allows you to view over 70 different marine species, and you can even enjoy touching some of the creatures in the touch pools. The local marine life is collected from the bays and harbours nearby and will give you a glimpse into the underwater life found in this part of the world.

Putters Mini Golf

You can’t go wrong with a game of mini golf when you are exploring somewhere new, so head to Putters Mini Golf in Powell River. This course has been open for about 20 years, and it’s a fun course for children of all ages. Once you’ve finished your round, head to the delicious ice cream shop located on the site as a reward.

Go For a Swim

Of course, no list of the top things to do on the Sunshine Coast would be complete without taking a swim. I recommend heading to Sechelt, or alternatively, you can enjoy visiting the parks in Powell River. Some of my other favourite beaches and swimming spots include Ruby Lake, Porpoise Bay Provincial Park, Bonniebrook Beach and Gilles Bay. You’ll have no shortage of places to cool off during the hot summer, and kids will be delighted to enjoy swimming out in nature.

There are so many things to do on the Sunshine Coast, so you can be sure you’ll never be bored on your trip to this area. Whether you are a local or are just planning an upcoming visit, you’ll find hidden gems around every corner when you explore the Sunshine Coast this year.
