Why Fall Is the Perfect Time to Plan Your Newborn Session (Even If You’re Not Due Yet)
If you’re expecting a baby this winter or in early 2026, fall is the perfect time to start planning your newborn session.
As a Vancouver newborn photographer, I always recommend booking your session during the second or early third trimester. This ensures we can reserve your due window, plan your session details, and guarantee availability when baby arrives—without last-minute stress.
And with fall’s slower pace and cooler days, it’s a beautiful time to slow down and think intentionally about how you want to document your baby’s first days.
Newborn sessions are best scheduled within the first 7–14 days after birth, when babies are sleepiest and most curled up.
Booking early allows you to:
With fewer sessions booked around the holidays and early new year, dates go quickly—especially for families expecting around December through February.
The newborn stage is fleeting—and let’s be honest, a little chaotic. When we plan ahead, everything feels easier.
By booking now, you’ll:
Your future self will thank you.
Many of my clients choose to book a maternity + newborn bundle, allowing us to document the full story of their baby’s arrival.
When we start in the fall, we can plan a maternity session in golden light and follow it with a cosy, in-home newborn session after baby is born. The result? A beautiful, cohesive set of images that tell the full journey.
Whether you’re due in December or March, now is the perfect time to start planning your newborn session.
If you’re looking for a Vancouver newborn photographer who offers calm, baby-led in-home sessions and custom heirloom artwork, I’d love to support you.
