Cultus Lake Wedding – Styled Session
I know I’ve mentioned before my love for all things vintage. If I haven’t, let me say it again: I LOVE all things vintage. So of course, when I decided to plan a styled bridal shoot, it needed a country, vintage feel to it. I envisioned wildflowers, lace and tulle, and a sun set, and this Cultus Lake wedding shoot was the perfect fit.
Do you know that feeling when things come together exactly as you envisioned? Honestly, I didn’t until this session.
I found amazing local vendors to work with through a Facebook Group, and they jumped onto the bandwagon and brought my vision to life. Sumuey from Lam’s Ear Floral Design crafted the most beautiful bouquet of wildflowers, many of them right from her own garden. She also connected me with Jesse from Cultus Lake Flower Festival whose gorgeous Wildflower and Sunflower fields provided the perfect backdrop for this shoot. Nicole from Make Me Up by Nicole brought to life the romantic, soft look I had in mind on our gorgeous model, Katey, a recent bride. She was also a last minute additional and a perfect fit. She convinced her husband, Joe, to jump on board for the shoot, and they made the perfect couple for our session.
I don’t talk about it much, but I plan events for a non-profit as my day job when I’m not on maternity leave. So naturally, I assumed planning a small styled shoot would be a breeze. Let me tell you, it was not. Due to trying to organize so many different vendors, we had to make some last minute adjustments. One of which was Katey and Joe. I had another model lined up who wasn’t able to make our date. Katey and I connected two days before the session. She and Joe got married a mere month ago and jumped at the chance for some more wedding photos. Then they made my dreams come true when they showed up in a lace and tulle dress, suspenders and cowboy boots. They were made for this styled Cultus Lake wedding.
We started a little later than planned. Our golden hour sunset soon turned into blue hour as the sun fell behind the gorgeous northern mountains and the air turned cool. But that didn’t stop us. The romantic evening light played right into bringing the vision to life.
